Creed for Unity

Here's my translation Deuteronomy 6:4 and some key verses from 1 Corinthians chapters 8 and 12, arranged into a responsive confession of faith. Parts of my translation are informed by or drawing upon the Names of God Bible and the NLT.

Listen: There is only one Yahweh — Yahweh our God.
We know that idols are false ‘gods’ and that no god exists except the one God. There is only one God, the Father. Everything came from him, and we live for him. There is only one Lord, Jesus Christ. Everything came into being through him, and we live because of him.

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body.
So it is with the ‘Body of Christ’: We have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.

In the body, God has put each part just where he wants it. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
God’s purpose was that the body should not be divided but rather that all of its parts should feel the same concern for each other. If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts share its suffering. If one part is honored, all the parts are glad.
